Judge/Judging
Many people who choose to take their understanding from one verse that supports their ways will quote "judge not lest ye be judged", but fail to read the rest of the verses that put that in context. They use it as an excuse to live in sin without being confronted about it. When we put the following verses together we get a more complete picture of how and when we must judge. When we judge someone as a whole rather than their actions it's like putting a label on them as a person. We are to judge the actions of the person so that we may know right from wrong and try to help them see the error of their ways. If we ignore their actions there is no benefit of learning in many cases and that makes us at fault of then not knowing when we could have informed them. When we at least quote the right scriptures to them, which is to call out their actions, they cannot say they were unaware that what they were doing was wrong. I remember a lot of things that I did wrong in my life before I knew the scriptures, that I wish someone had taught me was in the Bible before I had to suffer the consequences of my actions. That is one reason it is so important for parents to teach their child from day one about what the scriptures say God expects from us. Not only so that the child will know, but also so that they can share that knowledge with others who's parents neglect to teach them these things.
Most of all, we are supposed to judge ourselves to ensure that we are following God's Word correctly. In order to do that we must learn what the Word says. We should never stop studying and searching the scriptures.
