Keeping the commandments, salvation is not license to sin
We need to understand the difference between willful obedience and "works based salvation"
We are not saved by our works, but rather if we are saved and have the Holy Spirit within, we desire to be obedient. Your works are not just the charity that you do. Your works are everything you do in your life. We are faced with choices between good and evil in our every day lives. What we choose to do in those situations defines our intentions. Whether it be for good or evil. People can not see your light shine or the fruit of your spirit (which is what we are to be recognized by) if we don't choose obedience.
The Ten Commandments

Luke 6:46-49

Matthew 15:7-9

Matthew 22:37-40

1 Thessalonians 4:1-5

“By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God, and keep his commandments.
3For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous. ”
2 John 1:6
“And this is love, that we walk after his commandments. This is the commandment, That, as ye have heard from the beginning, ye should walk in it.”
Revelation 14:12-13
Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus.
13And I heard a voice from heaven saying unto me, Write, Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord from henceforth: Yea, saith the Spirit, that they may rest from their labours; and their works do follow them.
Revelation 22:14
“Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city.”
